The West End House Camp for Boys was founded in Parsonsfield, Maine, in 1908. Its sister camp, the West End House Girls Camp (WEHGC), was established in 2008.
WEHGC’s provides underprivileged girls with a free camp experience. The challenge is the boy’s camp is such an established organization that there is a lack of awareness for WEHGC.
The objective was to distinguish WEHGC from the boy’s camp. Plus, raise awareness among potential donors and campers.
The strategy was to use the campers to help tell the story about their camp experience, and the life skills they take with them.
he creative solution, leveraging the camp name itself, was an idea called I Am. Which enabled the campers to talk about their own personal stories: I Am Fearless. I Am Kind. I am Strong.
This I Am device manifested as branding materials, an informational brochure/direct mail piece, and an anthem video.
Judge Comment:
“Very thorough integration of the “I AM” down to the camp sign.”
“Subtle and clever”
