Ferrari Challenge 2018 Yearbook Assignment: Ferrari North America commissioned Mermaid, Inc. to design & develop a book to showcase their North America 2018 Race Season. Approach: There are 7 race events that Ferrari holds in North America & Europe each year.  To tell that story, we divided the book into 2 main sections: the “Race Chapters” & the “Yearbook.”  Microcontent copy paired with dynamic photography is used throughout the “Race Chapter” sections to give the audience an intimate portal into the behind-the-scenes world of the Ferrari Challenge 2018 racing season. These chapters tell the story of the passion, tenacity & teamwork that are part of every race. Additionally, at the start of each “Race Chapter,” a line drawing of the race course is featured, along with the names of the turns. Identifying icons are paired with key stats about the course. As an homage to the unpredictability of racing, a flexible grid system is used within the chapters to keep the reading experience fresh. The “Yearbook” section displays heroic, full-length photos of the drivers with their helmets, along with their cars, names, racing numbers, teams & nationalities.   Results: The 120-page book is not only a tribute to the drivers & teams, but gives a unique, intimate look into the 2018 Racing Season.
