For A&E’s mini-series Bag of Bones, we wanted to create a “musts” level of anticipation across consumer touch points and differentiate the mini-series from the cluttered cable landscape by underscoring the premium nature of the series. We designed our artwork to coincide with the internal positioning of the show, “creepy lake town with dark secrets.” The main image of the ad was a young girl underwater, with the tagline “Beware the Lake,” communicating chilling events and raising the fear factor. Her hand was used to reach out and spell out the tagline, creating a powerful piece of communication that was incredibly nerve-racking yet artistic. The actress from the show was actually photographed underwater and the key art was finished with minimal use of editing software. The ad conveyed the high quality of the series, showing viewers that premium dramas live on A&E.
