Project Title: 2015 Annual Review Website
Client or Class Name: White & Case - www.whitecase.com
Assignment
White & Case is a leading global law firm with lawyers in 26 countries. Our clients include many of the world’s most respected and well-established companies, startups, governmental organizations and state-owned entities.
The Annual Review is an important tool for enhancing the White & Case brand. It includes insights from lawyers about important issues affecting businesses around the world, an overview of our Firm strategy, descriptions of work we did for clients, and major Firm events and milestones.
The primary audience for the Review comprises clients and prospective clients; leaders in industry, government and other organizations; prospective hires; and the Firm’s global staff.
Approach
The theme for this year’s Annual Review is “Smart Growth.” To underscore this theme throughout the book, we chose dynamic photographs that convey movement and forward thinking. The most striking examples can be seen in the transition spreads that mark the beginning of new sections. To evoke a human touch, we placed bespoke watercolor images throughout the book. Clean typography and clearly structured layouts provide a magazine-like experience for the reader, and accessible infographics communicate a variety of technical information, from statistics about the Firm to details about client matters.
Effectiveness
A digital version of the Review, available on whitecase.com, significantly extends the publication’s reach. The sophisticated visual presentation enables the Firm to highlight its achievements in a much more compelling way than could be done in words alone. Similarly, the Review provides a compelling story to an internal audience, highlighting the relevance and excellence of our thinking and work across the globe.
In previous years, we created stand-alone websites for our Annual and Social Responsibility Reviews. Last year, we launched a new website, and so wanted to house this year’s Reviews within the new site. In order to do this, we designed and built a new “Section” template. This new template includes interior navigation and sub-navigation, allowing for multiple pages to exist under a single main header. In the Social Responsibility section, we developed a new tagging taxonomy in order to group articles by theme. Recent articles are highlighted on the landing page, and the user can click through to the full collection of article. The new template is optimized to also offer a great experience to mobile users.
