As you’re probably aware, it’s getting harder and harder for individuals
involved with graphic arts and advertising to get any attention. While
it might be easy to blame thing such as the Internet and the explosion
of digital television stations for making the terrain even more rocky
than it usually is, it’s important to remember there are a lot of
avenues still open for those people looking to showcase their creative
talents.
One of the best examples that you can find is the
Creativity International Graphic Design Competitions. While many
competitions focus on one specific creative area, the Creativity graphic
design contests are open to both regular media, interactive media, as
well as print and packaging entries. In other words, there’s going to
be an incredible cross-section of talent on display.
Before the
head-shaking and eye-rolling begin, it’s important you understand that
entering competitions is still one of the best ways to both expand your
creativity and to attract attention. With so many different areas
available for creative expression, it’s difficult to know which way to
go. For the most part, looking at the individual competition and seeing
what awards are offered is still the best way to decide whether or not
to enter.
For example, the Creativity graphic design contest
winners will have exposure that ranges from press releases to iPad Apps
to professionally designed certificates showcasing the winning entry and
a traveling exhibit. In addition, the competition is judged by a core
group of industry professionals, allowing your creativity talent to
stand before someone in the industry who might actually be instrumental
in determining your creative future.
In the end, though, it just
comes down to whether you want to be one of those individuals out there
who constantly whines that it’s too hard to get your work seen - or if
you want to take action that might result in an entire career path
previously undreamt of.
The choice is yours.
