    Rigid Construction /Multiple Housing Packaging

Retailers are marketing thematic gift packages as consumer goods and as business to business promotions. Select a group of objects and develop a marketing concept to package the items as an image-aware product for sale in the upscale retail market. Design and construct a package that enhances, displays and protects the products. Each package must contain at least 3 items and printed information about them. You will be able to locate all the objects listed in city stores, and you must have them for accurate measurements and for concept development. Go shopping as soon as you have selected your contents.

Image is the deciding factor in pricing the product, and the design concepts should reflect a high retail ticket. Graphic concepts should be aimed at an upscale audience and have a consistent thematic that carries through the inside of the package and all support material. If the items in the package have labels, hang tags, stickers, etc., they must be designed to fit the concept.

Consider how the objects reveal themselves to the consumer and how they are placed in relation to each other in the package. You must also consider how multiples of the package will display in the retail environment as you design the shape of the package and the exterior graphics. The interior may have removable compartments or built-ins.
