Wind power is hot, and the annual Windpower Conference & Exhibition has quickly grown into the premier international event for every facet of the wind industry. GE Energy required an exhibit design that not only showcased its wind turbine technology, but also extended its commitment to its ecomagination initiative, aimed at helping solve the world's biggest environmental challenges through research and development. With high conference traffic in mind, Albany's Exhibit Planning & Management International (EP&M) designed an open environment with a combination of seating arrangements, and installed several kiosks with plasma screens to provide visitors with interesting project and product content. Most notably, EP&M created a demo area adapted an actual wind turbine nacelle to illustrate the integration of GE engineering and its initiatives. To bring the focus back to the environment, colored lighting washed throughout the booth, along with graphics featuring flowers swaying in the wind. Says EP&M project coordinator Deb Flack: "It's important that the design choices we make lead to deeper conversations and a greater understanding of GE Energy's products, technical expertise and commitment to smarter and more efficient use of the world's energy resources."
